Clean your dirty a** list
This how you do it
One of the first things we do before actually signing on a client is making sure their list is clean.
Watch the video version (yes, I know my lip looks funny):
So what does this actually mean?
Making sure you have a clean list means ensuring that all the emails you have within your account are actually deliverable. The last thing you want to do is start sending campaigns to Amazon emails or TikTok emails or emails that just aren't actually real.
Here's the thing. If your list is full of bad emails, nothing else matters.
Not your copy. Not your design. Not your offers.
If you send emails to these people, they're not going to land, and that affects your overall campaign strategy, even if you stop sending those people in the future.
Clean your list.
Every time we do this for a client, the same thing happens:
Open rates jump to 50%+
Click rates push past 2%
Costs come down
Revenue goes up
Why?
Because you’re no longer sending to people who literally cannot receive your emails.
This matters even more if you’ve:
Run giveaways
Bought or inherited a list
Haven’t emailed in a while
Migrated from another platform
The process is simple:
Export your list
Run it through a validator
Pull out the bad emails
Upload and suppress them in Klaviyo
That suppression step is everything. It protects your entire account.
If you’re moving from another platform, don’t bring the junk with you. Only import the deliverable emails.
That’s it.
I think my video breakdown breaks it down a lot better. Check it out:
