I Am Trying Beehive For A Bit

Let's see how this works

So, true to my niche of email marketing, today I am talking about my transition to beehive for my newsletter instead of Klaviyo.

Beehive to Klaviyo

I have been thinking about moving platforms for my email marketing for a while.

Now, anyone who has ever worked with me, knows that I pretty much always recommend Klaviyo, specifically for e-commerce businesses. I say this because the segmentation in Klaviyo is second to none, and when you are running an e-commerce email marketing strategy, you are going to want to chop that database into a few different portions.

Same goes for the automations. There are a lot more triggers available to you when using Klaviyo, such as ‘added to cart’ or ‘ready to review’.

For me though, I don’t need all of that. I simply need a platform that can get my newsletter out to everyone, and a platform that can help me grow my newsletter quicker.

That is where beehive comes in. The built in ad platform that beehive has, allows me to keep sending emails, while also giving me opportunities to get in front of other audiences similar to mine on this platform. You will see this in the future, whereby my newsletter starts promoting other people’s newsletters in exchange for ad revenue. That’s right, I have to make some $$ as well.

The way I see it, the future of advertising, as Meta and Google continue to increase in price, is going to be in newsletters that have an audience of engaged readers. All you would need to do as an advertiser is reach out to the owner of the newsletter and for a set fee, ask for permission to promote their business. It’s why I am trying to get my newsletter to 10k subscribers by the end of the year.

beehive is great for individual creators or thought leaders (I put myself in this category minus the ‘thought’). I would not recommend it for e-commerce businesses though… and honestly, next month I might change my mind after using the platform, but let’s see how it goes.

Email Marketing Is Easy

I was on a call with e-commerce businesses this week, and they were interested in hiring me. After about 15 minutes… I basically told them to not spend money on my services.

Email marketing is easy… at least 80% of it is.

80% of running email an email marketing strategy is this:

6 core flows:

- Welcome Series to nurture subscribers

- Abandon Cart to recover lost carts

- Browse Abandon to recover lost prospects

- Post Purchase Thank You for nurturing loyalty

- Fulfilled Order Flow to cross-sell and provide order updates

- Win back flow to bring lapsed customers back into your marketing strategy and to get repeat orders.

Those flows will largely take care of a big chunk of the customer journey. Now, odds are you won’t set them up as efficiently as I would nor will they get as much revenue as mine would… but if you are doing under 20k a month revenue, we are talking a few bucks here.

Then you should have one weekly newsletter coming out showing a mix of lifestyle content and product focuses.

Now, if you are just starting out, you don’t need to spend $2,000 and $5,000 on my help. If you are just starting, you probably have an excess of time and are strapped for cash. Use that time to get the basics done and then, when you want that extra 20% on top of it, that is where I come in.

The other side of the argument is… if you just do not have the time. That is where I recommend you hire me. Email marketing is time-consuming.

So if you are thinking of hiring me or someone like me these are the two things you should consider:

  • Do I have the time to do this

  • Does the expertise that this person brings to the table bring a positive RIO? If I can improve things by 20%, is that worth $2,000 to $5,000?

I like the be transparent about what I sell and I tell everyone to consider those factors before they buy… not everyone does that, but you should know and should be informed.

Weekly Tech Spotlight

For those that are new here, every week I provide an update on how Aimerce is doing for my clients.

Some more updates with Aimerce. Full transparency, aimerce sponsors this newsletter. Aimerce essentially aims to increase flow revenue by increasing the length of the pixel on your website which allows you to send more abandonment emails.

At the moment we have three businesses using the software and here are the results that we have managed to bring in:

Good - Dates from 20/11/24 - 12/1/25

Client 4 (Good) - Additional revenue of $921.76 which is a 6.52% increase in revenue

I feel like we are just breaking even with this client, however… that is on the first purchase. I am actually happy with us just breaking even here because we make up for any loss on the 2nd order which usually happens at a decent rate down the road

Nord - Dates from 12/12/24 - 12/1/25

Client 5 (Nord) - Additional revenue of $991.95

Last up for this client as I no longer have Shopify access as the project has been completed

Mod Dates from 28/11 - 12/1/25

Client 6 (Mod) - Additional revenue of $583.47 which is a 7.39% increase in revenue
