The only 2 magic bullets to growth I know

These two things have increased my companies growth

I remember when I first started my agency. For a year, I was looking for some magic strategy that would help me grow…

I never found anything… in fact… the closest thing I have ever come to is these two things I do on a daily and weekly basis:

One - YouTube

YouTube has been the biggest unlock for me when it comes to generating new business.

At the time of writing, I post four videos every week across two channels. On one channel, I focus on email marketing strategies; on another channel, I focus on the day-to-day of running my business:

I am telling you right now, having a YouTube channel, for any business, is one of the best things you can do.

On my email marketing channel, we get about 8k views every month, and we have just shy of 1.1k subs. From that really small audience, I get about 2 - 3 new calls from people every single week.

There is nothing that screams ‘I know what I am talking about’ more than a video literally running people through your strategies and case studies.

It beats LinkedIn posting, Twitter posting, cold emailing, an amazing website… it beats them all.

Now, the 2 - 3 calls per week from YouTube channel are great, but what is also amazing is the trust that I am able to build by having a YouTube channel with people prior to getting on a call with them, who don’t even know I have that channel in the first place.

The authority that sending a video that you recorded about a problem a customer has, prior to getting on a call with them, is insane. It can literally be the difference between closing a deal and losing one.

And it makes sense, right?

Who do you think someone is more likely to work with, the random person from the internet, or the person who has put their face out to the world, showing them the exact solution to the viewer’s problem?

So YouTube is number one.

Also for those people reading this who do not think they have time to make videos… think again.

Keeping in mind that I do not have kids nor a partner right now… I am able to record 4 videos a week, run a team of 10, post on LinkedIn daily and Twitter twice a day, and make two of these newsletters every week, and work across 40 different client accounts.

Number 2 - Upwork

Everyone thinks that Upwork is only for finding cheap freelancers or crappy jobs.

It’s not.

From Upwork alone, I get on about 4 - 5 calls every single week.

Now, in saying this, my profile is dialled in on that platform. My reviews are well above average, and I am now probably one of the top people on Upwork for email marketing specifically.

But I have worked on that, and it has taken me a long time, but goddamn, does it bear fruit.
