You need to increase list growth and your onsite conversion rates

Before I start this part of the email, I want to preface this by saying 99% of the sign-up form tools on the market for e-commerce are bullllllllllshiiiiittttt.

The only one I recommend is formtoro and not because it focuses on increasing list growth, but because it matches zero-party data to purchasing behaviour…

I am willing to be that almost all of you reading this don’t actually know what that means… and that is okay. Note that the shout-out was not paid for, and I don’t even think that they know that I shout them out regularly. Here is what is important when it comes to sign-up forms:

  • Collecting zero-party data

  • Getting the first sale across the line

Everything else does not matter… and that includes list growth. Yep, the hook for this email (the subject line) is not actually what you should care about. Think about it, do I really care if my sign-up form gets more subscribers but the same amount of customers at the end of the day…

The answer is no.

In fact, you are actually wasting money on useless profiles when you are focusing on just increasing the size of your list. What matters is how many people go on to place an order after subscribing, and believe it or not, the sign-up form, outside of what you offer on that form, doesn’t have anything to do with that purchase.

Here is the kicker, you don’t need a fancy sign-up form to play with the offer. Any form builder in any ESP is going to allow you to do that. If this sounds confusing, please just book a call with me here and I will explain it: click here

When it comes to sign-up forms, here is what you need to do:

  • Form 1 - Have a form that shows up after 8 seconds with an offer asking them for their email address and what they are interested in

  • Form 2 - Have that same form target those who are still not opted in for email marketing, show up as a flyout after 45 seconds on URLs with the words ‘product’, ‘cart’ and ‘checkout’ in them. This gives people a second opportunity to subscribe to get your offer after they close that first form. Your aim is to get your offer in front of as many non-customers as possible to get them to make that first purchase.

  • Form 3 - Have a third form that displays to those who have not placed an order and have subscribed to email marketing at least once and zero times in the last three days. Have this form act as a flyout after 20 seconds and simply have it show the discount code you gave them earlier. Your aim is to get your offer in front of as many non-customers as possible to get them to make that first purchase.

  • Form 4 (optional) - Have a fourth firm show only to those who have subscribed for email but not SMS, and only here, are you going to ask the reader for the SMS number. You do not want the reader to have to subscribe for email and SMS at the same time, as this will cause a decrease in the form completion rates, meaning fewer people see your offer.

If you paid close attention, you will notice that what I am focusing on here, is not email subscriptions, but instead, zero-party data collection and getting the offer in front of your non-customers.

List growth doesn’t really matter. What matters is ‘product in hand.’

If this sounded confusing, don’t worry, I have a video coming out next week that goes over this in depth. Or just book a call with me to chat when you are free: click here

NOTHING THIS WEEK heheheh

If you are in B2B sales

Last month, I talked about how we did $97k in sales.

This month we will do over $100k, and the thing that has helped us the most has been…

Believe it or not…

Upwork.

I tell everyone I know to get on Upwork and find work there. It’s such a gem that so many people overlook.

If you want to know how I use it, check out this video here: click here
