You're probably paying too much for Klaviyo.

Also, your following doesn't equate to skill.

I'm going to talk about two things.

Number one, how to save money on Klaviyo, because it's one of the easiest and first things we do for our clients.

Number two, why someone's following doesn't equate to their skill set… Because I saw a post on LinkedIn today about a person I absolutely hate (more on this later).

Number one - You're probably paying too much for Klaviyo

Have you ever seen a screenshot like this?

When I see this, the first thing I think is that this account is paying too much for Klaviyo.

The second thing I think is, oh my god, I'm gonna look so good when I teach them how to save money after they've hired me to do more work. Instant value.

Here's how you can do that without actually having to hire me in the first place, though.

  1. Click Settings.

  2. Click Billing.

  3. Click Change Plan and go down to the lowest plan that you can, based on your profile usage.

Here's the thing, Klaviyo is pretty sneaky with its billing. They'll charge you in one of two ways:

  • How many profiles you have

  • How many emails you send

Whichever is the highest. More often than not, accounts don't hit either, and when they usually do, it's usually the number of active profiles they hit.

Here's the thing, though: in your engaged segments, you're probably not even hitting all your active profiles with your emails. If you really want to lower your Klaviyo bill, create a segment of people who subscribe to email at least once, and have done so 0 times in the last 180 days and have opened email 0 times in the last 180 days.

Take that segment, send them a plain-text email to try and re-engage them, and then suppress them.

Number two, why someone's following doesn't equate to their skill set

I saw someone post on LinkedIn, and they said the following

2023: XYZ published their first LinkedIn post

2024: XYZ built a $100K/year agency

2025: XYZ built a 7-figure community

2026: XYZ grew their SaaS to $190K/month

3x back to back proves it wasn’t luck.

My honest take… this proves nothing beyond the fact that a following allows you to do anything.

First of all, I have a deep-seated hatred for the person that they're talking about above… but that’s besides the point.

What I'm saying here is that you can literally build anything if you have a following.

Everything is easy if you have followers.

I'm telling you from experience, running my business is so much easier because I have a following across multiple accounts, but here's the other thing: that doesn't mean I'm good at what I do. It means I'm good at MARKETING myself.

I've met this person above, and I can tell you... They're stupid, and they don't know what they're talking about... but if you look at their following and their ability to leverage their following to build businesses that I know suck, you would think they're smart and successful.

It. does. not. mean. that.

It means that having a following is the most important thing if you're trying to make a quick buck. Perceived skill is better than actual skill.

Building a following just means you're marketable.

You can take the following and transfer it to literally everything and anything. Hey, it's how I built my Skool community.

I'm telling you right now, just because someone has a big following doesn't mean they know anything beyond being able to market themselves.

Anyway, subscribe to my YouTube channel so I can build my following 😉: https://www.youtube.com/@AgencyFollowAlong
